Before you plan your trip to the Canadian Rockies, meet the people who call it home:
Lyubo’s Story: Why the Rockies are still a dream come true.
“The Canadian Rockies have a way of making you stop, mid-thought, mid-step, just by looking up. The peaks feel close here. Not distant or decorative, but present. Sharp lines against the sky. Valleys that stretch out and quietly remind you how small you are, in the best possible way.
I grew up near mountains in Bulgaria, beside a ski resort, so this kind of landscape has always felt familiar to me. But life pulled me elsewhere for a while and I found myself in Denmark, a beautiful place, just very … flat. Over time, I realised I wasn’t just missing mountains, I was missing the feeling they give you. Space. Perspective. That deep exhale you don’t notice until it’s gone. Finding my way to the Canadian Rockies felt like coming home to that feeling.

Why Banff and the Rockies?
The thing that keeps me here, even on the long or tiring days, is how impossible it is to ignore where we are. You can finish a long day at work, feel the stress of your day on your shoulders, and then you look up. Light moving across rock. Jagged peaks catching the sky. It pulls you right back into the moment.
Magical Banff moments: Sunrise at Moraine Lake
Some of the most meaningful moments happen early, before the day even wakes up. Sunrise at Moraine Lake is one of them. Everyone has their warm drink, finds a quiet spot on the rock pile, and the valley settles. It’s a little chilly. Your hands wrap around the mug. Then the first light hits the tops of the peaks. No rush. No noise. Just that shared stillness and awe that stays with you.

Cave and Basin: Banff National Park’s roots and origin
I love taking guests to places they don’t expect to feel so important; Cave and Basin is one of those. A lot of people haven’t even heard of it before, but standing there in the Cave and talking about how Banff National Park began, how this place shaped everything that followed and is the reason why we are all here, changes how people see the region. It becomes more than pretty mountains. It becomes a story.
How the Canadian Rockies were formed
Guiding, for me, is about helping people truly understand where they are. I love sharing the story of how these mountains were once a shallow, warm, sub-tropical sea, a sea that went all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, and how the sedimentary rocks in that sea are now the tops of mountains we are all staring at from below. Watching that quiet moment when it all clicks for the guests is truly magical. Suddenly, the landscape feels alive, layered, and full of time.
Discover Banff with Radventures
If you experience this place with Radventures, I hope what stays with you is that feeling of awe. The kind that lingers long after the photos are forgotten, and quietly pulls you back again. When it does, I’ll be here, still sharing stories, still grateful, and probably sipping a post-hike berry & banana smoothie nearby.”
